You Still Get to Choose
The health of our minds and bodies is inextricably linked to the transformation of our spirit…
I know it’s been awhile since I’ve written and I wanted to send you a dose of inspiration to brighten your day. This past week has been a whirlwind and I’ve found myself very reflective about life. I recognize that we are in a time of great uncertainty and change. And often such uncertainty brings up thoughts and emotions on all ends of the spectrum. Right now, I’m feeling particularly grateful for the work that I get to do guiding people to achieve their best health and happiness. I just returned from hosting my first Mind Body Rejuvenation Retreat, which brought together 18 amazing women who came away feeling deeply nourished, having more clarity and above all with more know-how on how to make inner peace a priority.
Because the truth is, in uncertain times, we don’t know exactly how things will turn out and that causes great stress in the minds of well-meaning individuals, including myself. But what I do know is that whatever is happening, it’s so important to stay centered in your heart and in that place where you can feel love and compassion for YOURSELF and others.
The life changing take-away this weekend at the retreat was that we have CHOICE in every moment of every day to choose what we think and where we focus our attention. I was recently moved by a quote from Ghandi: “The day the power of love overrules the love of power, the world will know peace.”
So I want to remind you that in this very moment you can choose to think and act from a place of love even if you find yourself in a stressful situation or encounter a person who doesn’t believe the same things you do. Or you can choose to stay angry and frustrated allowing fear driven stories to rule your mind and your life.
At the same time, ALL feelings are part of being human and no one ever said it’s always easy. But ultimately, we have CHOICE over our thoughts and beliefs and therefore how we RESPOND. And that can make all the difference.
And at the same time, if there is something that just doesn’t feel right and needs to change in your immediate world, then speak your truth, step into your light and stand for what you believe in. What if you exercised your right to share how you feel and connect with those who support you and what you believe in? If we can do this from a place of love and understanding, this is when true change becomes a possibility.
What you think, what you believe, and what you do matters. YOU matter.
Perhaps this is best captured in this quote that came from a young teenager wise beyond her years: “How wonderful it is that nobody need to wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.” – Anne Frank
It’s an honor to support you in your journey and I wish you much love, health and happiness.
