Happy Summer Solstice!
The Summer Solstice, June 21st, officially marks the beginning of summer. It’s also a day that has been celebrated for millennia across cultures as one the most energetically potent times of the year.
You can feel it, school’s ending, it’s easier to get up in the morning, it feels great to be outside in the warm weather, trips and get-togethers are giving us a much needed break to relax and break from our daily schedules.
Our food preferences, appetite, mood, sleep and wake schedules naturally shift. By tuning into these changes in our bodies, in our own energy, we can appreciate how our own natural rhythms correspond to the rhythms of nature.
This is why solstices, which mark the beginning and ending of cycles are special opportunities to connect with the changing energy of the seasons and rejuvenate on all levels of our being.
Summer solstice is a time to honor the life force energy within ourselves by expressing gratitude for the incredible bounty of our earth (Yay Blueberries and Peaches!!) and the sun’s blessings of light and warmth.
As I look around and see the lushness of the trees, the abundance of flowers and plants in full bloom, it’s a beautiful reminder to give thanks for the blessings in our lives and remember how we are all a unique and radiant part of this abundance.
On this momentous occasion, it’s an extra special invitation to nourish our body and recognize that it’s beautiful and worthy of our respect and care.
So take time this week to safely bathe in the sunlight, put your feet on the earth, breathe in the sun’s energy and be in nature however you can.
For me on this day of heightened energy as we experience the longest day of the year – filling us with more sunlight than normal, it’s a time to reflect and honor the path we’re on, acknowledging how far we’ve come and what we can see ever more clearly in our hearts and minds.
Summer solstice is a time of growth, light and awakening consciousnsess, so it’s a powerful time to set your intentions of what you want to create between now and the end of the year.

What habits would you like to shift so you can better align yourself with what really matters to you?
Write your intentions or affirmations down, speak them outloud and as you do feel the emotion in your body.
Whatever activity or ritual resonates with you, just be sure to spend some time feeling the Sun’s energy, standing fully in the light, as a beautiful reminder to stand fully in the light of your own magnificent existence.
